Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) warned the FBI on Saturday against removing top officials, including deputy director Andrew McCabe, over criticism from President Trump.

Schiff's comments came after The Washington Post reported that McCabe was preparing to retire from the bureau in the coming months. McCabe is reportedly looking to step down in March, when he secures his full pension benefits.
The No. 2 FBI official has been the subject of scrutiny by GOP lawmakers in recent weeks over the bureau's handling of the probe into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email while serving as secretary of State as well as ties between Trump campaign associates and Russia.
Trump jabbed at McCabe on Saturday, tweeting that the FBI official was "racing the clock to retire with full benefits." In a tweet mentioning former FBI Director James Comey, whom Trump fired in May, the president also knocked McCabe over his wife's ties to prominent Democrats.

Dammit, we need McCabe in there. For 2 reasons: 1) he's good and 2) if he leaves he'll be replaced by someone bad.
I shudder to think of Trump & Sessions successfully hollowing out the FBI and any other organization or agency they want through such simple means.
WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS in calling Trump out on this horrid, unpatriotic, unfair, unPresidential, unAmerican behavior??

(5,210 posts)It's insufficient to have a pretty speech on the floor of the House or Senate. They need to get out in front of cameras and mics, and be angry, unceasingly recounting all of Trump's sins, all of their RepubliCON colleagues' sins, etc. They have to take some responsibility for educating and informing the public -- the ones who don't watch Fox.
Instead, they race to find out who'll be the first to dismiss any idea of impeachment, even though Trump commits impeachable offenses daily.
NO, they are NOT profusely speaking out.

(3,813 posts)Schiff is taking an important lead here by keeping watch for signs of further obstruction & by speaking up BEFORE the next Drumpf outrage manifests. Mere outrage after the fact is no longer enough; Schiff is playing chess and thinking ahead.
