Top GOP candidate drops out of Ohio Senate race
Source: The Hill
Ohio state Treasurer Josh Mandel (R) is dropping his Senate bid, citing his wife's health issues.
Mandel announced his decision to leave the race for the seat held by Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) in a letter to supporters on Friday.
"I am ending my campaign for US Senate in order to be there for my wife and our three children. This was a difficult decision for us, but its the right one," Mandel wrote.
"Understanding and dealing with this health issue is more important to me than any political campaign."

(11,175 posts)Over course, a campaign tying him to Trump could reverse that -- but, for an incumbent, being behind at this stage isn't a good sign.
My guess is that, in this instance at least, the stated reason is the actual reason.

(1,134 posts)... so it is a non-story. Hard to imagine a worse candidate for any office, so his challenging Brown was the joke of the State in normal times, but side splitting in the current atmosphere. His vote total might not have exceeded "none of the above!"
