President Trump on Monday tweeted about the African-American and Hispanic unemployment rates about an hour after “Fox & Friends” ran a segment on new unemployment statistics.

A Saturday report in The Associated Press included new numbers that showed the African American unemployment rate reached a record-low in December at 6.8 percent. Trump had touted this number over the weekend on Twitter, saying he was “so happy.”

“The African American unemployment rate fell to 6.8%, the lowest rate in 45 years. I am so happy about this News! And, in the Washington Post (of all places), headline states, ‘Trumps first year jobs numbers were very, very good,’” the president said.

Trump’s Monday morning tweet came after Fox & Friends ran a segment on the unemployment rate in the 8 am hour. The show used the numbers to argue that Trump is delivering on a campaign promise to the African-American community when he asked, "what do you have to lose?"
