Poll: Voters still say Obama more responsible for economy than Trump

Source: The Hill

BY BRANDON CARTER - 01/10/18 02:30 PM EST

A new poll finds that more U.S. voters still say former President Barack Obama is responsible for the current state of the U.S. economy than President Trump. The Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday finds that 49 percent of Americans say Obama is more responsible for the current U.S. economy compared to 40 percent who say Trump is responsible.

The number of voters crediting Obama for the state of the economy has grown in the past two months. In Quinnipiac’s Nov. 22 poll, 43 percent of Americans credited Obama, and in a December poll 45 percent of voters credited the former president.

The percentage of those crediting Trump over Obama rose steadily through most of the year, topping 43 percent in December before ticking back down to 40 percent this month.

The January poll also finds that 66 percent of U.S. voters say the economy is “excellent” or “good,” the most positive rating for the economy in the poll since 2001.

Poll: Nearly two-thirds say Trump doesn’t share their values

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 01/10/18 02:25 PM EST

Nearly two-thirds of U.S. voters do not believe that President Trump shares their values, according to a new Quinnipiac University Poll out Wednesday.

According to the survey, 65 percent of respondents say that they do not see Trump as someone who shares their values. That compares with just 32 percent that say he does.

The poll shows a sharp contrast between respondents that identify as Democrats and those that consider themselves Republicans. Seventy-six percent of GOP respondents believe that Trump shares their values, while 94 percent of Democrats do not.

Independents were more evenly split, though more than two-thirds – 68 percent – said that they don't see Trump as someone who shares their values.

Majorities in new poll say Trump not level-headed or fit for office

BY JOSH DELK - 01/10/18 02:31 PM EST

A majority of voters in a new poll say that President Trump is not level-headed or fit for office.

Sixty-nine percent of respondents said Trump is not level-headed, and only 28 percent said he is, according to the Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

Sixty-five percent of Republicans said he is level-headed, with 32 percent disagreeing, while a massive 93 percent of Democrats said he is not.

By 57 percent to 40 percent, most also said Trump is not "fit to serve as president." Republicans say 89 percent to 10 that Trump is fit, with only 7 percent of Democrats in agreement.

The percentage of people who believe that Trump is intelligent is now at it's lowest level since his inauguration, at 53 percent.

He's going to have a hard time winning. People are pissed. The Virginia governors race and Alabama senate race showed it. Moore was a three point favorite, lost by 1.5. Northam was a 2-3 point favorite, won by 9. Midterms are gonna be a blue wave.
