Trump responds to 's***hole' outcry with 'America First!' tweet

President Trump is responding to the widespread condemnation of his remarks about immigrants from "shithole countries" with a two-word tweet: "America First!"
Trump offered the tweet at 8:14 a.m. with little other comment. And while the tweet didn't cite the criticism of his reported comments at a meeting with lawmakers in the White House, it was hard to see the words as anything but a response to that controversy.

America First is one of the hallmarks of Trump's presidency, and reflects his stance on immigration.
Trump wants to change the rules for entering the United States, and stepped into controversy when he said the nation should be seeking immigrants from countries such as Norway instead of countries such as Haiti.

... it encapsulates why the zero-sum nature of such "thinking" is so dangerous. America First (or, more broadly, "We're Number One"
means that any concession to another group is seen as a "loss" to "Us," and thus disloyal at best and rank persecution at worst. This can be seen in the reactions to acknowledging the rights of others, which are deemed persecution of ME. (It doesn't help that current sloppy thinking likes to see rights as granted favors, rather than fundamental characteristics). When one can also see his expectations thwarted and his own property and prospects diminishing, often through no fault of his own, it creates the perfect opportunity for scapegoating the "other," however conceived.

about AMERICA FIRST!, he'd pack up an' leave for some Caucasian bastion or shithole retreat - whichever would have his sorry ass. America will just keep dropping further and further back in the pack so long as we employ a shithead president to represent us on this whirling rock.
