New York to look at legalizing recreational marijuana

Source: Rochester Democrat & Chronicle

ALBANY - New York will launch a study into whether it's plausible to legalize marijuana for recreational use in the state, Gov. Andrew Cuomo is set to announce Tuesday.

Cuomo is expected to announce a feasibility study in a speech unveiling his state budget proposal Tuesday.

The study will examine the possibility of legalizing the drug in New York and what types of potential roadblocks could exist, particularly as the Trump administration has given prosecutors more leeway to prosecute federal-level marijuana laws.

It comes as at least nine states and Washington D.C. have legalized small amounts of marijuana for recreational use.

Allow commercial smoking rooms. Right now, a lot of New Yorkers live in apartments, and a lot of apartments are smoke free. The Indoor Clean Air Act doesn't allow establishments like cigar bars or, as it now stands, cannabis dens. And, of course, you'd never be allowed to smoke weed outside even if it was legal.

I live in a smoke free apartment in a medical marijuana state. Edibles have become my favorite method while vaping is another. I grew up smoking pot in the 60s and find in my old age I much prefer these other methods.
