GOP senators: DACA bill to get vote by Feb. 8

Source: The Hill

GOP senators said early Saturday morning that they've gotten a promise from Senate leadership to bring up a fix for young undocumented immigrants by early next month.

"There was an agreement, we got the majority leader to agree to bring that bill up," Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) told reporters on his way out of the Capitol.

Asked if the agreement was to give a legislative fix for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program a vote by Feb. 8, he added: "Yes, by Feb. 8 that vote would happen. We would start the process vote, invoke cloture on the Graham-Durbin bill and maybe another one."

Spokesmen for Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

If they haven't voted by now, what possible evidence do we have that they'll vote by Feb 8?

DACA to them is like the extra $50 million from Trump's inaugural celebration fund. For one year, they been promising to do something constructive with that money within 6 weeks. Now they don't even know where it is (nor do I, but I'll bet I know where it ISN'T: with the inaugural celebration fund).

Along with the Chips funding bill, why can't they just pass it now? They're all there, or is it like the bill suggested by Sen. Macaskil to continue pay for service members, McConnell refused to do it. Republicans and trump are turning the blue wave into a tsunami coming after them in Nov. . Daca and Chips both have a 80-90 approval by the American people. Trump and the republicans need to take a basic math course. They keep digging heir holes deeper and deeper while trying desperately to blame Democrats they're in a hole. 2018 VOTE!

It sets up ideal framing for Democrats either way. We can take credit for having forced Republicans to finally actually bring DACA fix legislation up for a vote if they actually do so as promised. If they fail to keep the deal, the public will really be focused on their betrayal now that the government shutdown coverage has hit fever pitch. And then in three weeks we shut down the government again, with public opinion even more firmly backing Democrats. Realistically DACA is not going to get fixed much sooner than Feb. 8th no matter what we do. The fact that Democrats forced the shutdown by not backing the extension last night was critical. It established that we have a spine and sets up our taking credit now for resolving DACA one way or another because of our resolve, regardless of how the political game gets played over the next few weeks.

Just like they promised collins they wouldn't fuck with ACA, then included a host of measures to do just that in budget, and promised her they'd do a bill on re-insurance and guess what also was not included. McConnell and drumpf are two of the most untrustworthy pols to come around in ages and I wouldn't trust them if they were handing me a $100 bill. You can bet it would contain some kind of neurotoxin to kill me.

so fucking pissed that I might not get my first SS check which was due to be processed Monday, that military might not get paid, all to build a unnecessary and even harmful wall and to kick out brown folks who were here through no action of their own. Don't believe this "we'll do it later", it's a total lie from the criminal, greedy, traitorous russian repugs.
