Melania Trump will no longer join the President in Davos

First lady Melania Trump, in a change of plans, will not be joining President Donald Trump on his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, later this week.

East Wing communications director Stephanie Grisham confirmed to CNN that the first lady's decision to forgo the trip was based on "scheduling and logistical issues."

A week ago, Grisham told CNN the first lady would be attending the annual meeting of influential financial leaders and business titans in a show of support for her husband, who intends to give remarks during his visit.

Melania Trump has not made a public statement since January 12, when news of a possible payoff from her husband's lawyer to porn star Stormy Daniels to cover up an alleged affair was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

The article goes on to say that although Melania left with Trump for Mar-a-Lago the weekend before last, she wasn't with him at two dinners he hosted there that weekend. And her tweet last Saturday about the one-year anniversary of Trump's inauguration showed her with a military escort but didn't show Trump, and she didn't mention him by name either.

The payoff to Stormy not only prevented an October surprise that could have hurt him with voters, but it kept Melania from knowing so that she would continuing playing the part of supportive wife denying there was anything problematic in his behavior. His buddy at Nat Enquirer also paid hush money to another woman, the Playboy playmate who had affair with him while married to Melania. That was only revealed by WSJ on Nov 4th 2016 and not widely covered by other media.

I doubt Melania would have undergone the humiliation of defending him in a big public interview if these reports had come out by October as she would have been put in a much more awkward position than just explaining his "locker room talk".
