Officials ask court to send Kennedy cousin back to prison

Source: AP

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut officials are asking the state’s highest court to revoke Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel’s bail and send him back to prison.

The chief state’s attorney’s office filed the request Monday with the state Supreme Court.

Skakel, a nephew of Robert F. Kennedy’s widow, Ethel Kennedy, was convicted in 2002 in the death of Martha Moxley in their wealthy Greenwich neighborhood in 1975, when they were both teenagers. He was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison, but another judge granted him a new trial in 2013, citing mistakes by his lawyer.

The state Supreme Court reinstated the conviction in December 2016. Skakel’s lawyers asked the court to reconsider, a request that remains pending.

he can wait in stir like the rest of us would. He left the country to avoid proving his innocence, I have no sympathy for someone who sure doesn't act innocent.

You and I agree on so many things, this is the one issue we will disagree on.

were first "convicted several times (lost appeals).

He has had only one full trial. His attorney suppressed evidence pointing to his brother and left out evidence on his own alibi. We are all better off living with a justice system that protects the rights of defendants to adequate counsel. The first appeals court was correct to grant him a new trial.

Here is where I am skeptical of the motive to - Connecticut officials are asking the state’s highest court to revoke Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel's bail and send him back to prison - Rep Joe Kennedy lll is giving the rebuttal to the sotu this evening - the thugs spin their evilness at every opportunity against Dems....IMHO....
