Trump's lawyers argue Mueller has not met threshold for presidential interview

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump's attorneys are arguing that special counsel Robert Mueller's team has not met the high threshold they believe is needed to interview a president in person, according to sources familiar with the ongoing deliberations.

Despite the fact that Trump himself has said he is "looking forward" and would "love to" meet with Mueller, he did say any interview would be "subject to my lawyers," who believe that Trump should not be required to do that.

Sources said this is an ongoing negotiation and the position by the President's lawyers is not a final stance.

While the White House has cooperated with Mueller's investigation by providing documents and voluntary witness testimony, the President's legal team argues that the President should not be treated like anyone else. Trump's attorneys would like Mueller's prosecutors to show that only the President can give them the information they require. The President's team, one source said, is consulting with the White House counsel's office and other outside legal experts given the implications of any decision about the President's testimony on the office of the President.

That the Rule of Law will be enforced? Corruption is epidemic with GOP....I don't feel comfortable about there being healthy safety measures any longer.

what the Russians have done to our democracy is an act of war, and Trump plus all of his co-conspirators have committed treason.
If we still had a real democracy, we would be at war with Russia and Trump would be on his way to prison.

He's going to ignore a subpeona. This argument is the winning one for Trumps lawyers imo

If you want him to appear as a result of a court ordered subpoena, by all means let’s see him interviewed as a hostile witness.

They're correct. Trump should be held to a higher standard than everyone else, since the investigation is ABOUT HIM!

Subpoena the rotten bastard, and if he refuses to honor the subpoena throw his blubbery ass in jail!

Trump continues to believe he's above the law. It's past time for him to find out how the law treats everyone else in this country.

He is constitutionally unable to complete a sentence without lying.

I think they call it "Trump Syndrome."

He will brainlessly perjure himself every few minutes, and they can take him straight from the interview room to a federal lockup.
