GOP senator on military parade: When youre the most powerful nation, you dont have to show it off

Source: The Hill

BY AVERY ANAPOL - 02/07/18 03:35 PM EST

Rep. John Kennedy (R-La.) on Wednesday voiced opposition to President Trump’s proposed military parade, saying the U.S. doesn’t need to “show off” its military power.

“I think confidence is silent and insecurity is loud,” Kennedy told reporters. “America is the most powerful country in all of human history; you don’t need to show it off.”

The White House and Pentagon confirmed reports that Trump directed officials to plan a military parade. Trump has repeatedly floated the idea in public and privately.

After witnessing Bastille Day celebrations in Paris last summer, Trump said he wanted a parade to “show our military strength.” He reportedly told officials that he wants a celebration “like the one in France.”

that Kennedy was not going to be weak.
He had to prove that not much later at the Bay of Pigs.
All the other parades on that list were war related.

What on earth would be the point of a military parade for Trump?

Having a military parade is to feed his incredibly huge childish ego...NOTHING ELSE!!

Everyone thinking or buying into the idea this has anything to do with the US Military needs to remember who is the POTUS & calling for this parade & will be the one saluted by each passing unit inflating his childish ego to new & dangerous heights!!

with a Cuban missile crisis and Berlin airlift among other Soviet-related issues.

The only reason to tear up the streets of DC with heavy military equipment now is to compensate for tiny hands.

Bring the troops home from Afghanistan, defeat ISIS and Al Qaeda and bring troops home and maybe we'll discuss having a parade after providing the proper medical treatment, jobs, and housing for our veterans.

that the essence of Classical Conservativeism is 'be humble enough not to fuck with shit that WORKS (even if you might not like it).'?

This what the Orange Idjit wants to do is the complete anthesis of everything their Party was built on.
