Mattis says U.S. service members in DACA will generally not be deported

Source: Reuters

FEBRUARY 8, 2018 / 3:38 PM / UPDATED 24 MINUTES AGO

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Thursday that service members in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program will not be deported, other than a few exceptions.

“We would always stand by one of our people,” Mattis told reporters. He added that the only exception was if the service member had committed a “serious” felony or a federal judge had signed deportation orders.

Until now, the fate of about 800 service members in the program had not been clear.

Besides it really isn't up to him, is it? If ICE shows up with a warrant, what is the service members unit going to do, resist?

ICE will notify the Provost Marshal, who will notify the MP's, who will then pick up the service member and hold them for ICE to pick up!!!

While head of DHS, Kelly eliminated guidelines that governed federal immigration agents’ work and vastly expanded the categories of immigrants being targeted for deportation!

So, either Mattis is lying or he's stupid and ill informed!!!

Like the Gest. . . whoops, ICE, was only going to deport illegals immigrants with criminal records, rather than the entrepreneurs, job creators, teachers, and other professionals that they are in fact deporting.

This lop-sided elevation of 'service members' over other professions is so asinine.

But once they've been given their honorable discharge papers, ICE will be waiting outside the gate for them.

Well, that's nice to know when you're putting your life on the line in Afghanistan.

I'm generally going home, unless..

DACA people, don't enlist in the service. No separate, but equal bullshit until America gets her head on straight.
