'He says he's innocent': Trump refuses to condemn Rob Porter - and suggests he's the victim

Source: RawStory

President Donald Trump on Friday expressed regret that former staff secretary Rob Porter resigned — and didn’t once mention anything about the two former wives who claimed that he regularly beat them.

I hope your mom did.

We at DU often speculate about the pre-nup -- from my point of view, few things could keep a woman tethered to a man like a threat to her child(ren). I wonder just how many marital rights she actually signed away?

him not mentioning the wives that Porter abused or saying absolutely the wrong thing...which he undoubtedly would. He is an absolute POS.

He just defended the abuser. Basically Trump said that Porter said he is innocent, and that is enough for me..

on sexual harassment and violence.

When the presenter put #me too on the board I whispered that #whitehouse.gov should be there just for the hypocrisy.

Everything we learned does not apply to the orange assaulter or his staff of thugs!

I understand that reporting domestic violence can be humiliating, but the police investigate and make arrests. With arrests come mug shots and fingerprints. They also photograph victims. These go a lot further in proving what happened than a photo taken privately by the victim.

I don’t doubt for one minute what happened, but proving it will be difficult without more evidence from the victim.

I think the United States would have the lowest prison population ever.

Judge: "Did you rob that bank."

Defendant: "I am innocent, judge."

Judge: "Well in that case, release the defendant."

I’m assuming as part of the security clearance investigation, Porter was asked about the abuse allegations and told the FBI that he didn’t do it. So, if he comes out and now admits to it that would mean he lied to the FBI.

I don’t know, but this administration, and especially Trump, continues to not surprise me - reading the President’s statement that pretty much supports the action of Porter - well, I should be, but I’m not surprised. So sad....

Can you think of one person, just one who claims to be innocent but is in fact guilty? Anybody? Think hard.
