WASHINGTON A New Mexico woman has filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham claiming that she was fired from an internship in the Democratic congresswomans office because she is transgender.
Riley Del Rey, 26, of Albuquerque, alleges in the complaint, filed Monday, that she was terminated after less than a month on the job by the congresswomans then chief of staff, Dominic Gabello, who cited Lujan Grishams lack of trust in her.
Del Rey accuses Lujan Grishams office of engaging in employment discrimination based on sex and gender identity status because she is transgender. She also accuses the office of leaking her personnel information to one of the congresswomans political supporters and to members of the news media.
They really just threw me away, said Del Rey, who described the experience as horrifying.

It's hard to be certain exactly what happened, but my take is that the woman got fired for cause and she's falling back on a claim of discrimination that didn't actually happen.
