Rubio warns against jumping to conclusions after Florida school shooting
Source: The Hill
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R) on Wednesday cautioned that a law may not have prevented the tragic shooting at a South Florida high school, in response to calls for increased gun control.
Rubio said that "people still don't know how" the shooting occurred, or how the 19-year-old suspect Nikolas Cruz obtained the weapon he used to kill 17 people in the Broward County school.
"I think it's important to know all of that before you jump to conclusions that there was some law that we could have passed that would have prevented it. And there may be, but shouldn't we at least know the facts?" Rubio said on Fox News.
Rubio said it was not appropriate for his Senate colleagues to use the incident as an opportunity to call for increased gun control immediately.

Members of Congress and state legislatures need to decide who they represent - We The People or the gun manufacturers.

Rubio sure seems to think those thoughts and prayers are extremely valuable.
As for conclusions, I conclude like many others -- non-military personnel do not need military weaponry. It would be hard for that deranged young man to commit mass murder with, e.g., a single shot .22 varmint rifle.

(10,303 posts)Case in point.
1. When was the last mass school shooting in the United Kingdom?
2. What changes to gun laws were made as a result of this?
3. Has there been any attempted mass shootings at a UK school since then.?
Answers.
1. 13 March, 1996. Dunblane, Scotland.
2. Virtually all handguns were banned in the aftermath of Dunblane.
3. None that I know of.... because there hasn't been one.
I know one would say "that is the UK, this is America.". The point is gun control laws if enforced do work. America can have common sense gun laws, and private citizens can still bear arms. And we can drastically cut the rate of gun violence in the USA too.

I hope that Mr. Rubio has to experience what these children and parents went through, and are going to be going through for quite some time. Until these bastards feel the pain, they'll never realize what they're doing to this country.
