Senates Russia Investigators Question Kerry's Aides

Source: The Daily Beast

Devin Nunes is treating John Kerry’s former aides like conspirators against America. Senate intel staffers are hitting them up for leads on the Kremlin’s election interference.

Republican House intelligence committee chairman Devin Nunes says his committee is investigating the Obama administration State Department. Meanwhile, Senate investigators are using these officials as sources in its probe into Russian election interference—pointing to the massive differences between the two probes.

Multiple sources familiar with the Senate intelligence committee’s investigation tell The Daily Beast that Republican and Democratic staffers there have spoken with numerous people who worked in the State Department under then-Secretary of State John Kerry.

Tom Malinowski, who was Kerry’s assistant secretary of state for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, told The Daily Beast that he spoke with Senate investigators. He said the meeting was informational and conversational, but didn’t elaborate.

Committee staff have also spoken with Jon Finer, Kerry’s chief of staff at State, according to a person familiar with that conversation. Both Democratic and Republican staff attended.

What are those investigators trying to prove? Not cooperating with the Russians is indicative of anti-Trump bias 15 years ago?

1. Would you want John Kerry publicly answering questions with his usual skill and his long term reputation as someone who tells the truth? In addition, he is someone who has followed the rules. Note he immediately recommended an IG who Obama nominated AND when the HRC stuff blew up, quickly put that person, not him, as the lead on that.

2. Would be they either consider him not a threat or they intend to use what they find to destroy him.

Some background as to why this may not be a smart move for Nunes. The main person he is targeting in Jon Winer. He was in addition to Jack Blum., the person who investigated both the Contra and the BCCI stuff. This was Kerry leading career risky important anti corruption investigations. In some ways, the evil they found is on a par with the Russian collusion stuff Mueller is investigating.

It was from that work that Steele knew Winer and showed him the memo which he pushed to the undersecretary related to Europe. Note he did NOT share other things given to him with anyone in state.
