NRA's Wayne La Pierre at CPAC: Gun Control Advocates Are Exploiting the Florida School Shooting Tragedy

A top official with the National Rifle Association said during a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday that politicians and the media are exploiting the deadly Florida school shooting to expand gun control and ultimately abolish the second amendment, striking a defiant tone in his first public remarks since a shooting that killed 17 people and reignited the gun control debate in the U.S. to a fever pitch.

“As usual, the opportunists waited not one second to exploit tragedy for political gain,” Wayne LaPierre, the Executive Vice President of the NRA, said during CPAC, the annual gathering of conservative activists and Republican leaders. “Chris Murphy, Nancy Pelosi, and more, cheered on by the national media, eager to blame the NRA and call for more government control.”

“They hate the NRA,” LaPierre said in National Harbor, Md. “The elites don’t care one wit about school children. If they truly cared, they would protect them.”

Although LaPierre spoke at CPAC, his name was not on the public schedule and his speaking slot details had not been finalized as of Wednesday afternoon. The Washington Examiner reported that CPAC organizers had left LaPierre’s name off the schedule following last week’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

This was one of the most disgusting and deplorable speeches I've ever seen in the United States. This should have been given in Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

How do I even know what limbaugh sounds like?

well, the last few days while scanning my car radio when out, i've landed on WHAM 1180 in Rochester, NY, a station that should be banned from ever broadcasting again. (most of the time I have the local classical station-WXXI...)

Limbaugh seems to always be on.. I was able, each time, to listen to maybe 30 seconds.

Pure horror.

They have a local guy on in the AM - Bob Lonsberry. I've heard him, too. He is from the sticks, sounds like a reasonable dude, all innocent, fawning, fake stuttering ( I KNOW fake stuttering when I hear it cause I used to stutter pretty badly), until he suddenly gets riled up and all of a sudden the pure evil comes out of his mouth, vicious, violent, the fake come to jesus, the gun haters. He's the kind guy who picks his nose and then eats the snot.

...radio. One of the results of Reagan and later bush deregulation. There is no limit on the number of stations a company can own, and RealClear, Mercer, Fox, etc. have capitalized on that.

I drive from New England to Toronto once or twice a year, and once I'm out of range of Boston or NYC radio, all I get is Limbaugh/Hannity/Beck/Medved/Savage, etc. And at any one time if you "scan" you can get three or four stations in range with Limbaugh or Hannity.

All their bought puppets are mouthing about ways to get more guns out there -- arm the teachers, security guards with AR-15s, the attacks happen in "gun free zones".

We have to take note of the marketing spewing out everywhere from AM radio to the White House. Their machine has been programming people for decades that Democrats want to take away all their guns. In spite of that, the polls show the highest ever support for gun control.

We just can't let the NRA and its puppets make the mid-terms all or even mostly about guns. There has been tremendous damage done by this GOPer regime that has motivated a massive turnout of Democratic candidates. That was before the Florida Valentine's Day massacre, so the motivation is much more than gun control.

The NRA#Murder Inc. will do anything to sell guns. "Blood Money La Pew" is a flim flam man without a sense of decency. The NRA promotes murder, mayhem, and violence in the name of the gun industry. Blood and guts are good for their business$$$$$$!

Who are these souless bastards manufacturing and selling weapons of war to America's youth? They hide behind "Blood Money La Pew" and live in wealth and privilege.

Remember Buchanan's unhinged culture war speech at the RNC back in '92? After Americans saw that, they were shocked. I don't think Buchanan has been relevent since.

LaPierre and Loesch just triggered the same reaction with their bat-s--t crazy CPAC speeches, imho. I think we can already see the effects by the first few companies quickly ending their business association with the NRA.
