Romney: Akin Should Take 24 Hours to Reassess Senate Bid

Source: National Journal

Mitt Romney on Monday stopped short of calling for Rep. Todd Akin to resign his bid for the U.S. Senate, as several other Republicans have done, but said the Missouri congressman should take 24 hours to think through things for his family and country.

Romney spokesman Rick Gorka told reporters the presumed GOP nominee made the comments in an interview with New Hampshire radio station WMUR that will air later today. He said Romney called Akin's comments on rape indefensible.

Earlier, Romney said Akin’s recent comments were “inexcusable” in a phone interview with National Review Online on Monday morning, and called for the congressman to correct his statement.

“Congressman Akin’s comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong,” Romney said. “Like millions of other Americans, we found them to be offensive.”

“Congressman Akin’s comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong,” Romney said. “Like millions of other Americans, we found them to be offensive.”

This from a guy whose hand-picked running mate actually sat down with this cretin and tried to re-define rape for those of us idiot women who can't tell the difference between plain old rape and forceable rape.

What I wouldn't give for a well-placed broom handle...Sorry, I know you don't fight violence with violence, but these assholes don't seem to have an empathy chip, so show-and-tell seems to be the only way to get through to these bastards.

By choosing that word, he's saying subliminally, that there are some
things that are excusable.

According to Mitt ... guess what's excusable?

Not releasing one's tax returns.

Ryan is now linked with Akin

Ryan is Romney's running mate

Romney-Ryan is now linked with Akin

They're linked if Akin continues

They're linked if Akin drops out

If Akin drops out it casts more light on Ryan's link to Akin

There is not a winning aspect of this for the GOP as far as I can assess

Thoughts?

If Akin's gone, they can pretend the Ryan connection never existed. And for the "independent" flibberdigibbets who they're trying to convince, that will probably work.

Yes, I'm cynical about this shit.
