Kushner leaves US ambassador to Mexico out of meeting with Mexico president: report
Source: The Hill
President Trumps son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner did not invite the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico to meetings with top Mexican officials on Wednesday, according to a new report.
A senior U.S. official told The New York Times that Kushner did not invite Ambassador Roberta Jacobson to meetings with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray.
Jacobson, who is among the State Departments top Latin American experts, announced last week she would step down from her post in May after serving in the U.S. government for 31 years.
Christopher Sabatini, a lecturer on international relations at Columbia University, told the Times that Kushners meeting was not the way foreign policy normally is, or should be, conducted.
The sending of the presidents son-in-law someone with no experience in Mexican-U.S. relations is another example of the de-professionalization and personalization of diplomacy that will hurt U.S. interests and leverage in the region, he told the Times.

(9,426 posts)should refuse to meet with Kushner. He has no clearance, no authority so why meet with him, wasting time? What a screwed up mess this country has become, in one short year. Why not send Ivanka, she could open a sweatshop there, for her stolen designs.
