HARRISBURG, Pa. -- A Pennsylvania state lawmaker who says a fellow lawmaker pulled a gun on her and threatened to kill her has gotten a restraining order against him. State Rep. Tarah Toohil alleges that fellow Republican Rep. Nick Miccarelli pointed a gun at her in 2012 and on another occasion, when the two were in a car, warned he would crash the vehicle while speeding 100 mph on a highway, The Citizens' Voice reported .
A Luzerne County judged granted the restraining order Friday, barring Miccarelli from contacting Toohil and prohibiting him from possessing firearms.

Toohil also alleged that Miccarelli kicked, pinched and hit her. She said she was so concerned about her safety she appended a note to her life insurance policy that said Miccarelli should be investigated if something happened to her.
In a separate allegation against Miccarelli, a political consultant claims that after she ended their relationship in 2014, Miccarelli came to her house and forced her to have sex, holding her neck during part of the alleged attack. Miccarelli also denies those allegations.

(3,076 posts)... "PIERRE Republican leaders in the House asked a pair of lawmakers to apologize for sparking an investigation into a verbal assault on the chamber floor.
The request comes two weeks after Rep. David Johnson, R-Rapid City, was accused of yelling profanities at Rep. Lynne DiSanto, R-Box Elder, after the House adjourned.
Reps. Dan Kaiser, R-Aberdeen, and Elizabeth May, R-Kyle, said they were asked to apologize to Johnson on Monday for bringing a motion to form a Select Committee on Discipline and Expulsion to review his conduct."

Isn't that pathetic? Republican leadership (I am suspecting Blake Curd, R-Minnehaha County of being behind this, and to think this guy is a surgeon...) tells those wanting to end harassment and violence in the statehouse to apologize.

It appears their own ranks are slowly getting fed up with shutting up just to protect predatory assholes just because they are fellow Republicans. When a Republican woman has been stalked or raped, "IOKIYAR" doesn't seem like such a good excuse any more.
