Intel Community On House Panel Russia Findings: We Stand By Our Assessment

Source: Talking Points Memo

By Caitlin MacNeal | March 13, 2018 8:34 am

After the House Intelligence Committee on Monday evening released a summary of its findings in the Russia investigation disagreeing with part of the Intelligence Community’s assessment of Russia’s election meddling, the Office of the Director of National (ODNI) security released a statement reiterating that the Intelligence Community stands by its conclusions.

“The Intelligence Community stands by its January 2017 assessment, ‘Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent US Elections.’ We will review the HPSCI report findings,” ODNI spokesperson Brian Hale said in a statement.

In the assessment released in January 2017, the Intelligence Community concluded that “the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump” over the course of the 2016 campaign.

The House Intelligence Committee said in the summary released Monday evening that the panel concurred with “the Intelligence Community Assessment’s judgments, except with respect to Putin’s supposed preference for candidate Trump.”

There is no problem to spend it on..<sarcasm>

A pair of Democratic congressmen wrote to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson this week demanding to know why the State Department hasn’t spent a penny of the $120 million approved to counter Russian election interference.

4. I just called Peter King's office and spoke to "Will"...

...when I asked for his last name he said "Smith". Anyway, first, he hung up on me, then - after I called back and said this is how "representatives" and their staff treat citizens of this country who are paying their salaries - he continued to be nasty, saying that I shouldn't be calling his office because I'm not in the second district of NY. I said I was calling King in his capacity as a member of the HPSIC and to express my disgust with their release of the report. He said he'd pass my disgust on to the congressman but that was all he could do, attempting to be very condescending.

5. What does Russia HAVE on them? Or is it mostly

hyperpartisan cohesion and habits of authoritarian obedience that have them individually and collectively committing political suicide in a destructing party? Will waiting it out and keeping their heads down really save some of them, and that's all they look for at this point?

The fourth estate in multiple nations will continue the investigation even if they were to somehow stop Mueller. Every week new information will come out revealing this to be a lie.

Qatar just announced it's gathered information on Jr's corruption involving them. Other nations are in this fight with us. Against the Party of Trump, including the Republican congress. And a former federal investigator says other, more bipartisan committees are working, plus Mueller, making this of little practical import to us.
