Fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe Lawyers Up

Source: Daily Beast

Andrew McCabe, formerly the deputy director of the FBI, has lawyered up. Michael Bromwich of the Bromwich Group confirmed to The Daily Beast that he is representing McCabe for the purposes of the matter that led to his firing.

Last night, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that he was firing McCabe, citing “lack of candor”—a fireable offense in the FBI. McCabe immediately fired back; in a lengthy statement, he said he believed he was actually fired because of his connection to Special Counsel Bob Mueller’s investigation.

“This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally,” McCabe said in a statement. “It is part of this Administration’s ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day.”

Bromwich, who is representing McCabe, was formerly the inspector general of the Justice Department.

Tweet from HuffPo's Ryan Reilly with statement from Bromwich last night:

“This distortion of the process begins at the very top, with the President’s repeated offensive, drive-by Twitter attacks on Mr. McCabe.” - Michael Bromwich, a former DOJ inspector general now serving as McCabe’s lawyer

Bob Mueller & company, Michael Avenatti (Stormy's lawyer), McCabe, and the
former IG Bromwich are the real deal.

The firing is a finding of guilt.

Here is one more example of the hypocrisy of these rightwingers when they whine about 'due process.'

Repeating him helps him. Don’t repeat his words. If you must quote him, rephrase him.

of McCabe's role in re-opening the investigation of Hillary Clinton's emails 10 days before the election. I'm of the opinion that if you swim with sharks you might get bit.

... you know that the house is burning down around you. They tend to hedge, qualify, and understate everything.

Oh, yeah, it also means he's probably really, really pissed off.

Education[edit]
Bromwich graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College in 1976. He subsequently received a master’s degree in public policy from John F. Kennedy School of Government, as well as a law degree from Harvard Law School in 1980.[1]

Career[edit]
Bromwich was a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and served as associate counsel in the Office of Independent Counsel for Iran-Contra. Bromwich was one of three lawyers for the government in the case of United States v. Oliver L. North.[1]

He was an Inspector General for the Department of Justice from 1994 to 1999. He headed an investigation into the FBI laboratory; the investigation into the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103; the FBI's conduct regarding Aldrich Ames; the handling of classified information by the FBI and the Department of Justice in the campaign finance investigation; the alleged deception of a congressional delegation by high-ranking officials of the Immigration and Naturalization Service; and the Justice Department's role in the CIA crack cocaine controversy.[1][2]

In 1999, he joined Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.[2] He joined the New York office of Fried Frank, where he headed the firm's internal investigations, compliance and monitoring practice group .[1][2]

In 2002, he served as an independent monitor for the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia.[1]

In 2005, he was appointed by the Houston Police Department to investigate its crime lab.

7. President not used to real fighters. Usually his bullying causes rollover

Both with Stormy and with McCabe we are seeing people who know how to stand up to bullies.

Hire a real lawyer. Fight back in the press. Don’t take their bullshit lying down.

The president is reportedly afraid of Schiff because he doesn’t take BS from the Whitehouse. He should be doubly afraid of McCabe and Stormy.

11. Sessions is a bad man in many ways, but this surprised me.

Either Sessions is no more than a sycophantic toady who hung on to his job -- despite the insults flung his way by Orange Head -- merely in the hopes that he could win his master's favor again by acts as despicable, unethical, and most likely illegal as this one, or he was looking to further embarrass the president by losing spectacularly in court when McCabe launches his defense.

(I'm kidding about that last part. Sessions is just a sad little a toady, a jellyfish with no backbone or character. But, yes, he and Orange Head will lose in court, and the proceedings will be wonderfully revealing of the ugliness and incompetence of this Administration as well as the utter contempt in which it holds American traditions of fairness, justice, and compassion -- not to mention our Constitution.)

Sessions wants to keep the power of the AG. He did what he had to do. Like any other organized crime situation - when you are told to "off" someone then you either do it or you get "off-ed" yourself.

Simple decision for Sessions actually. Kill or be killed, so to speak.
