Summons issued to Trump in case alleging he is violating Emoluments Clause

Source: The Hill

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 03/22/18 08:18 AM EDT

A summons has been issued to President Trump in a lawsuit filed alleging he is violating the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution.

The lawsuit — filed by the attorneys general in Washington D.C. and Maryland — alleges that Trump is violating the clause, which prevents elected officials from receiving gifts or benefits from foreign governments without Congress’s approval, WAMU reported.

The lawsuit is filed against Trump in his "official capacity and in his individual capacity," according to the Washington, D.C. radio station.

The lawsuit also argues that businesses in Maryland and D.C. have been hurt because groups instead choose to stay at Trump's properties in attempts to get in his good favor.

Seems to me that this is the definition and reason for the emoluments clause. Groups "getting in good favor" and the trump crime family profiting from it, its a type of extortion.

6. Like everyone else, the President should get a set amount of vacation days that are paid. After that

he should be required to reimburse the govt expenses related to additional days off. I have said it many times, Trump is cash strapped and if he had to reimburse the government for his golf trips and all the related expenses he couldn’t do it. He dips into his campaign funds to pay legal expenses. What kind of real billionaire does that? I couldn’t see Bloomberg, Bill Gates or any other billionaire not paying legal fees from their own pocket. Like everything else about Trump is a fraud his wealth is the biggest fraud of all. He is tighter than a crab’s ass and cannot afford to “pay attention” let alone pay legal bills. And, what really is a kick in the ass is that many of his supporters think he is a great businessman thus qualifies him to be president. Another fraud. He is an abject failure as a businessman and has relied on money laundering and fraud to sustain his precarious businesses. What a loathsome prick of a person, bully and coward who doesn’t even have the balls to fire someone to their face.
