John Dowd Resigns as Trumps Lead Lawyer in Special Counsel Inquiry

Source: New York Times

The president’s lead lawyer for the special counsel investigation, John Dowd, resigned on Thursday, according to two people briefed on the matter, days after the president called for an end to the inquiry.

Mr. Dowd, who took over the president’s legal team last summer, had considered leaving several times in recent months and ultimately concluded that Mr. Trump was increasingly ignoring his advice, one of the people said. Mr. Trump has insisted he should sit for an interview with the special counsel’s office, even though Mr. Dowd believed it was a bad idea.

I guess somebody's legal bill is going to go unpaid...

And somebody's thinking of sitting down with Mueller...because he thinks he can bullshit his way out of this.

Those are only for the indigent.

Besides, there are plenty of lawyers that will defend him. Roll up on MeTV and wait for the “did you take Viagra and get an erection that lasted 24 hours? You can receive compensation!” ads. If you’ll chase ambulances you’ll defend America’s Dumbest Criminal.

Dowd was counseling against firing him or sessions or rosenstein. He said he would leave if trump did that.

Of course, he also said he would leave if trump testifies to muehlers team.

Could be either one, but my money is on firing sessions and moving pruit in.

In either case, he is now left with a team that wants to be more aggressive against the muehler probe.

that everyone quoted about the resignation, including Dowd, is engaging in a love fest.

Dowd loves the president and wishes him well.

Everything was mutual, Dowd was a great member of the legal team.

but in the end, he'll get his money, AND court costs AND attorney's fees for having to sue to get paid.

Trump will think he's winning, because the bill gets delayed, but it's foolish, because in the end Trump end up paying more. If Dowd can prove the bill is correct, and Dowd, knowing what a bad risk Trump is, certainly kept detailed records to support the bill.

He also likely got a big retainer up front.

Boo-yah! Dowd wins. (Altho I think it's likely Trump fired him, or it was mutual.) WHY do people keep wanting to work for this vile piece of crap? WHY????
