Organizers estimate 800K people in DC for march so far
Source: The Hill
Organizers are reporting as many as 800,000 people gathered in Washington, D.C. on Saturday afternoon for the anti-gun violence rally, NBC reported.
Rebecca Shabad, a congressional reporter for NBC News, tweeted that March for Our Lives officials told her the estimate around 3 p.m. Saturday.
D.C. metropolitan police have not yet released their approximate crowd size.
The current estimate of March for Our Lives attendees exceeds most estimates of President Trump's inauguration crowd size. The Washington Post estimated in 2017 that around 600,000 people attended Trump's inauguration.
Thousands of American students gathered all across the country, inspired by the student survivors of the Parkland, Fla. school shooting who organized the D.C. march.

(13,360 posts)I was looking for crowd estimates, but figured they would be coming in throughout the day.
There's even going to be some people who join in later I'd bet. Is there any kind of vigil tonight planned?

(43,146 posts)merchants of death, arms merchants, war for profit, it's all the same. monied interests growing their capital by selling their output. every war has financing behind it. no financing, no arms. no arms, no certainty our side will prevail. oligarchs, then known as international capitalists, financed Nazism. they wanted to make a buck.
it's a stretch but some have said generation z is facing its vietnam here. they can't have global all out war anymore, no one would survive. but the financial interests still exist. they are facing the remnants of arms merchants.

(51,590 posts)The first Women's March 2017 brought out 250,000 in DC, 750,000 in LA and 500,000 NYC. I wish these teenagers could vote in the midterms. Maybe they can sway their parents if they normally vote GOP.
