Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against President Donald Trump, said on Wednesday morning that he would consider settling the case.
Though he did not rule out a settlement, Avenatti also suggested he would not be happy concluding the case until he gets more information about the hush agreement between Daniels and a business set up by Trumps longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen.
I think we would consider it, I would converse with my client. It would depend on the terms of the settlement, Avenatti said on CBS This Morning when asked if he would consider settling. But at this point, I dont see how the case gets resolved short of the truth coming out.
Avenatti also shared more detail about a March 21 meeting he had with Trumps lawyer, which he first revealed in a Wednesday morning filing moving to depose Trump and Cohen.

(43,402 posts)While they have him in a tight spot, I hardly think Stormy or her lawyer are in this for a payout, or the magnitude of the payout. The truth in open court and to our open society could fetch her several times a couple million. Possibly even 25 times over the course of her life with the notoriety she would gain from a full airing of her experience.

But I don't think "guilt" is the issue, just a negotiation chip.

(8,445 posts)It isn't Avenatti's decision to accept a settlement or not, and of course he knows that.
However these Stormy cases turn out, Stormy is going to benefit greatly, I think. And Spanky is going to suffer.

(397 posts)And this might be the final straw, he began his PR campaign claiming that it was to protect his clients right to free speech.
After some pretty embarrassing tv appearances and photos of DVDs suggesting hard evidence, it is now revealed that the case is not about the freedom of speech, but of the correct price for silence.
His behaviour has been disappointing, the only 'bright light' of the case is the fact that a porn star trying to shake down a president finds it easier to find a hotshot lawyer to represent her, than Trump does to defend the things he has done.
