Advertisers pull ads from Fox's Ingraham after her jab at Parkland student
Source: Politico
At least two companies will heed calls from a survivor of the Florida high school shooting to drop their advertisements on Laura Ingrahams Fox News program after the host mocked the student on Twitter.
Nutrish, celebrity cook Rachael Rays dog food company, announced on Thursday that it was in the process of removing ads from Laura Ingrahams program. TripAdvisor, the American travel website, told POLITICO that it had made a decision to stop advertising on that program.
We believe strongly in the values of our company, especially the one that says, We are better together, a TripAdvisor spokesperson said in an email. We also believe Americans can disagree while still being agreeable, and that the free exchange of ideas within a community, in a peaceful manner, is the cornerstone of our democracy.
The spokesperson added: We do not, however, condone the inappropriate comments made by this broadcaster. In our view, these statements focused on a high school student, cross the line of decency.

(51,590 posts)It worked so fucking fast. These students are smart, knew how to hit the evil bitch and Fux Ruse where they live $$$$$, and rhey got the word out quickly through social media. Now they are going to the town halls to change gun laws April 7th! JOIN THEM!!! RESIST!
March For Our Lives TOWN HALLS April 7th.
The students and communities who support stricter gun legislation are encouraging citizens to call and arrange town halls in your district on April 7th (before they head back to DC). They organized a site with help from Town Hall Project (Town Hall For Our Lives).
These young people are getting people registered to vote and are going through the legislative process for change and on April 7, theyre calling for every member of Congress to hold a town hall.

If your local legislator refuses to come for whatever reason, simply invite their opponent, Hogg told us. It's as simple as that.

Town Hall Project empowers constituents across the country to have face-to-face conversations with their elected representatives. We are campaign veterans and first time volunteers. We come from a diversity of backgrounds and live across the country. We share progressive values and believe strongly in civic engagement. We research every district and state for public events with members of Congress. Then we share our findings to promote participation in the democratic process.
This movement is diverse, open source, and powered by citizens. We are proud to be a part of it.

(2,309 posts)The Hill reported that Wayfair has pulled ads despite Ingrahams apology. Given her record of offensive statements, it seems the only reasonable thing for a business to do.
Online home goods company Wayfair said it will stop advertising on Fox News host Laura Ingraham's show after she posted a tweet critical of a Parkland, Fla., high school student.
"As a company, we support open dialogue and debate on issues. However, the decision of an adult to personally criticize a high school student who has lost his classmates in an unspeakable tragedy is not consistent with our values," Wayfair's head of public relations, Jane Carpenter, told CNBC.
"We do not plan to continue advertising on this particular program."

(90,677 posts)...their ads are being shown. They hire ad agencies, and those agencies make placements based on things like numbers and ages of viewers.
As a consequence, we are actually giving such companies valuable feedback when we notify them that their ad-dollars are being spent abhorrently.
