Romney faces test to determine if he'll have a primary challenger

Source: CNN

Mitt Romney will face the biggest test so far in his bid for US Senate on Saturday, when the Utah GOP gathers for party caucuses to decide who will be the party's nominee to replace retiring Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch.

Romney has already secured a spot on the Utah primary ballot by gathering the requisite signatures to qualify. But because of a protracted battle within the state party, Utah candidates can take two paths to the ballot: by participating in the caucus nominating process favored by party activists or by gathering signatures.

Romney has opted to do both, in a nod to party activists who view the signature gathering process as a boon to big-money, establishment candidates.

It's unclear whether Romney will emerge from Saturday's caucus voting as the party's anointed candidate, even though the former Massachusetts governor has put 9,000 miles on his 2002 Chevy truck visiting all 29 Utah counties in the past two months.

The main difference between Trump and Romney is Trump sounds like the low life ignorant assholes who support him, and Romney is that boss whose ass you have to kiss. Neither Trump or Romney have any care for those who vote for them.

It would seem the one play he can and should run as himself is Utah. I suspect he is too well known to drastically change his image. He might simply work to humanize himself. Changing to something he is not makes him fake and a hypocrite.

He lost by a big margin to Obama, but if Fox News and Sinclair media, and all the RW hate shock jocks on radio find any mole they can create mountains of scandal out of against whomever the Democratic nominee is, at least to Republicans and Independents, many will look to Mr. 47% as some kind of saviour of not only the Republican party, but the country.
