A New Group Is Attacking An Ohio Democrat From The Left. A Republican Is Behind The Group
Source: Buzzfeed
A Republican donor is aiming to influence Ohios competitive Democratic primary for governor by attacking the establishments preferred candidate from the left.
Restauranteur Thomas Tony George is behind the nonprofit Citizens Policy Institute, which has produced a 30-second television ad blasting Richard Cordray, the states former attorney general and the former head of the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Why do Republicans like Rich Cordray so much? a voiceover asks in the spot, which was first reported by Politico. He has an A+ rating from the NRA. And he hurt consumers by quitting his job as America's consumer watchdog so Trump could appoint his replacement."
The ad is titled Republican Lite.

The Republican behind the ad "also acknowledged he has been friendly with Dennis Kucinich", the article notes.

Except that America is waking up to what's going on.

I remember thinking how stupid it is to point out that he has a favorable rating from the NRA in a state like Ohio. Our governor before republican John Kasich was Ted Strickland, another pro-gun democrat with a four star rating from the Buckeye Gun Owners Assn.
Regardless the convictions of some on the left, no politician has ever been harmed in Ohio by aligning themselves with sportsmen, and this ad will only endear Cordray to fence sitters who see Mike DeWine as the little weasel he so closely resembles.
However...
Watch how when it comes down to the wire in November and the NRA throws everything behind republican Mike DeWine and labels Cordray as a liberal gun grabber. I'd bet $50 on it because they did the same to Strickland to endorse Kasich in 2010. While both were congressmen in the '90s, Strickland voted against the assault rifle ban, while Kasich helped write the bill.
That finally proved to me that the NRA has become an official arm of the GOP first, and an advocate for the 2nd amendment second. Pun intended.
Just in case someone thinks I'm exaggerating, that's DeWine on the left. This is the pic he uses on his Facebook page:

(18,628 posts)Youngstown is hardly a liberal haven, but rust belt politics still trend solid blue. Trump was a rare exception here where democrats like Tim Ryan and Sherrod Brown historically win 2 to 1. The unions may be sparse now, but we still carry the card.
Candidates here dare not put "republican" on their campaign signs, lest they fail overwhelmingly. They use buzzwords like conservative.

She was in the running until Cordray came back. Mike Turner has a woman running against him.

As for Husted they were ready to run him out of Kettering on a Rail for pretending he lived in Kettering. He actually lived in Columbus. So he ran for State Government where no one knew him.
DeWine reminds me of Pence. True, devout Christian with at least 8 kids, backstabber of the worst kind. Weasel is right. Every time we think we are rid of him he runs for something else.
