Trump calls on Congress to pull back $15 billion in spending, including on Children’s Health Insurance Program.

By Damian Paletta and Erica Werner May 7 at 2:38 PM

President Trump is sending a plan to Congress that calls for stripping more than $15 billion in previously approved spending, with the hope that it will temper conservative angst over ballooning budget deficits.

Almost half of the proposed cuts would come from two accounts within the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that White House officials said expired last year or are not expected to be drawn upon. An additional $800 million in cuts would come from money created by the Affordable Care Act in 2010 to test innovative payment and service delivery models.

Those are just a handful of the more than 30 programs the White House is proposing to Congress for “rescission,” a process of culling back money that was previously authorized. Once the White House sends the request to Congress, lawmakers have 45 days to vote on the plan or a scaled-back version of it through a simple majority vote.

If approved by Congress, the reductions would represent less than 0.4 percent of total government spending this year.

Since the blades don't even start up until the Royal Combover is on board. It always used to be that the blades were turning and ready to go when the President arrived, so that they they wouldn't waste any of his precious time. But they don't do that anymore.

After all, they do such good and effective work!

But who would know. "WE" can't know.

The DoD auditors haven't been able to complete a full audit in 10+ years.

There are an awful lot of very expensive homes around D.C. that were bought with taxpayer money that hasn't been accounted for. And I bet a lot of those real-estate transactions haven't been reported. If the IRS hadn't been eviscerated by the republicons it might actually be able to haul some of those thieves into tax court.

His only "crime" is that he lost the genetic lottery and is related to IQ45. That's not his fault.

Don't behave like the RW with attacks on kids because of who their parents are. It was wrong when they attacked Chelsea, Sasha, and Malia. That doesn't make it okay for you or anyone else to attack Barron.

But his money launderer father should be paying for any of his family's Rump Tower security costs - not the U.S. Taxpayer. And definitely not at the expense of CHIP and other vital programs.

To say nothing of local taxpayers in New York; I understand it's costing them a fortune.

I agree with everything else you said, by the way. I just don't understand why you called him that, and thought it was inappropriate given past attacks on the children of Democratic figures.

For one thing, it's Trump and his kooky followers who revel in not being politically correct. If you want to behave like they do, go nuts.

For another, it has absolutely nothing to do with political correctness. Attacking innocent children is wrong, no matter who their parents are.

If you behave like they do, what separates you from them, apart from your politics?

You don't take money from authorization. You take it from appropriation.

The budget deficit is projected to be nearly $1 trillion. None of these cuts get anywhere close to that. To find that kind of money, you'd have to tax the wealthy.

Those Trumpers receiving Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), will blame Obama when their children start to suffer for their own stupidity!!!

And this may sound cruel, but they won't get one bit of sympathy from me...because if they hate their own children, then why should I care!!!

22 of them are Republican Congressman, the other two Republican Senators.

It is very simple, ladies and gentlemen: if Trump manages to flip Congress to the Democrats, the Republicans will get rid of him.

Historically the President's party doesn't do well in the midterms. They'll only drop him if it's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he broke the law, with zero chance for him to sleaze his way out of it.

Hell, maybe not even then. I'm reminded of that old saying, "Yeah he's an asshole, but he's our asshole." There's also the fact that his kooky base is all about sticking it to those darned liberals, even if by doing so they damage their own interests.

That, of course, is the first thing I wanted to see, but nope - no table. Just a bunch of prose.

This is a rounding error on that. Tax cuts and the war machine are the real deficit drivers.
