Some 20 rockets were fired at Israeli military bases by Iranian forces in southern Syria just after midnight on Thursday, with some of the incoming missiles being intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system, the army said, amid sky high tensions on the northern border.

There were no reports of Israeli casualties in the attack. An army spokesperson said damage was caused to Israeli military bases, but that it was “limited.”

The Israeli army said the missile barrage was carried out by members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Forces. This appeared to be one of the few instances of a direct attack on Israel by Iran, which generally operates through proxies.

(That's the whole, twisted, attraction to fighting wars by proxy. The proxy army can kill you, and the country that equipped them can't be blamed. At the same time, you can kill the proxy army, and the country that equipped them won't blame you. But if you kill the 'advisers' that are equipping the proxy army, it's no longer a proxy war.)

So Israel and Iran are one tick away from being at war with one another, and Trump (with the assistance of Netanyahu) has just torn up the arms agreement that prevents Iran from COMPLETING (completing, rather than developing) atomic warheads to put on missiles capable of hitting Israel.

Nice going, Trump. Your obsession with destroying all of Obama's signature achievements might have just kickstarted world war III. If Israel and Iran are at war...the evangelicals and the neocons will demand that the United States get into it on Israel's side.
