Ron Paul tweets racist cartoon, faces backlash

Source: The Hill

Former Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) on Monday tweeted, then deleted, a racist cartoon depicting minorities with stereotypical features punching Uncle Sam.

The cartoon features a Jewish man with a hooked nose, a black man with exaggerated lips, an Asian man with slanted eyes and a man who looks like a neanderthal punching Uncle Sam and yelling “cultural Marxism!”

“Are you stunned by what has become of American culture?” Paul said in the tweet. “Well, it’s not an accident. You’ve probably heard of ‘cultural Marxism,’ but do you know what it means?”

Paul faced enormous backlash on social media, with some people drawing parallels between the image and Nazi propaganda.

I'm not familiar with Glen Greenwald's musings upon Ron Paul, who has been known for his rancid, hateful racism for years.

The focus should be upon the particularly hateful vicious cartoon images of human beings Ron Paul doesn't like because of their skin color.

Since he outsourced his newsletter, and then his website, to veteran white supermacist Lew Rockwell. The website is a Nazi sewer. The Ron Paul "movement" -- and IMHO right-libertarianism in general -- has been a pipeline to the racist antisemitic right.

A lot of cartoons that he did not draw get released with his name on them.

I'm not excusing the cartoon.

Breaking: @RonPaul Accidentally Posts "Cultural Marxism" Subtext As Text

The funny meta question: that's obviously not a real Ben Garrison cartoon because it's not labeled to explain it to imbeciles. Did someone alter it to mock Garrison? To troll? Just to watch the world burn?

4chan likes to put Ben Garrison's name on racist cartoons.

Ben Garrison likes to put Ben Garrison's name on racist cartoons.

Based on Know your Meme posts, this is the work of a troll who takes existing (and deeply crazy) Garrison artwork and changes the faces.

He and his fellow travelers are unrepentant racists. A subset of alt-right scum.

Cultural Marxism? Oh, so that must be the new nut job frame for leaving people the hell alone and letting them have the freedom to live their lives as they see fit, no matter who they are or where they come from. Kind of ironic coming from a libertarian, but then again, not so much. For the most part, they're authoritarian Rethugs who want to smoke pot. They have no problem with authoritarianism as long as THEY are in authority.

I clicked this post thinking it was something with implied racism and was being overblown by the left, but this is ridiculous. If Ron Paul didn't think this was overtly racist, he doesn't deserve a seat on the US Congress. Those images harken to the days following WWII, and his constituents should remember this next time he runs.

He needs to be officially sanctioned, at the least so people never forget his true feeling toward the people in his district.

So, former Senator Paul, about that growing and learning thing ...

Seems Garrison is not responsible for the overtly racist shit, someone is changing his work, but he is still a right-wing nut-job. Check my unedited post for some of his "artwork" which was changed to reflect anti-Semitic memes.

Whenever we see it, we have to speak out, shout from the rooftops that that's unacceptable in America. This will not become the norm, like it was a few decades ago.

We really have to nip this in the bud. The white supremacy movement is getting bolder by the day.

"Earlier today a staff member posted an offensive cartoon on my social media. I do not make my own social media posts and when I discovered the cartoon the member was immediately fired".

No one believes that was "inadvertently posted" or that it was a "mistake". It's just about possible that the racist staffer made it public when they meant to keep it private among Paul's tight circle of racists - I've never used Twitter's DM facility so I've no idea how easy it is to mistake public tweeting for it.

since he doesn't do any of his own social media posting.

He says the post was immediately deleted.

(I bet it was! I'm guessing that it was probably was meant only for internal office 'passing around' by his staff, and there was no mention of whether the 'staffer' still had a job. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that his job is secure, and he was maybe told to be a little more careful when he hits 'Send' to make sure it stays internal and not let this stuff be getting out into the world for others to see.)
