NFL Halts New Anthem Policy After Miami Dolphins Float Suspensions
Source: The Daily Beast
All rules related to the National Football Leagues national-anthem policy have been frozen while it negotiates with its players association, both sides announced late Thursday. The joint statement came shortly after a report the Miami Dolphins were considering classifying players protests during the pregame anthem as punishable offenses that could incur four-game suspensionslonger than many of the leagues penalties for domestic-violence cases. The NFL and NFLPA, through recent discussions, have been working on a resolution to the anthem issue. In order to allow this constructive dialogue to continue, we have come to a standstill agreement on the NFLPAs grievance and on the NFLs anthem policy. No new rules relating to the anthem will be issued or enforced for the next several weeks while these confidential discussions are ongoing, the statement read. The NFL announced in May that it would fine teams if their players did not stand during the playing of the national anthem, although the NFLs policy did not offer guidelines for how teams should punish individual players.

(38,958 posts)As to the player behavior on the field. I appreciate the desire to protest injustice however, this is the workplace for them and frankly they should in my opinion adhere to the rules of the workplace. I had to do so during my years of employment and I see no reason why they should not need to do so.

(2,647 posts)Don't play the anthem!
When you get right down to it, the anthem has nothing to do with any sport except maybe the Olympics.
Just my 2c's.

(4,164 posts)If the players are out of the game then so should anyone not standing at attention for the anthem. That goes for everyone in a private box, in a nosebleed seat, selling concessions and support staff on the field.
There should be no refunds of ticket prices.

I believe all the NFL players should refer to Trump as a racist during every conversation they get into, especially on TV. Tell it like it is and stop pussy-footing around this "they're being unpatriotic, and maybe should leave the country" rhetoric of Trump.
Trump is a low-life racist POS and should be referred to as such at every opportunity. Screw those stupid NFL Trump-inspired rules.
