Trump calls on Sessions to end Russia probe 'right now'
Source: The Hill
President Trump on Wednesday said Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop the Russia investigation, which he dubbed a Rigged Witch Hunt.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further. Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA, he tweeted.
..This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further. Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!

if they're prosecutors investigating him and his cronies, then he's going to label them as partisan because, well, that's what he does.
https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/6/22/1774575/-Special-Counsel-investigation-expands-with-addition-of-four-more-prosecutors
Friday June 22, 2018 · 3:21 PM EDT
Buzzfeed reporter Zoe Tillman notes that special counsel Robert Mueller has filed the paperwork to add four new prosecutors. All of them are to be assigned to prosecuting the case against Internet Research Agency, the Russian operation that both disseminated propaganda during the 2016 election through social media posts, false fronts for nonexistent organizations, and intentionally provocative ads. Among the prosecutors being added is Heather Alpino, who has worked on a number of cases involving international agentsincluding the prosecution of a Turkish national for arms smuggling and of Iranian hackers involved in credit fraud.
The addition of four additional lawyers represents a significant staffing up for this area of the investigation. It may suggest that additional information has been acquired, requiring more hands to deal with growing complexity. It may also suggest that some of those currently dealing with the case are needed for other areas of the investigation and those coming on board will act as backfill.
In either case, requiring additional attorneys would seem to indicate that the investigation into connections between the Trump campaign staff and foreign agents is continuing to expand.

WASHINGTON Two weeks before his inauguration, Donald J. Trump was shown highly classified intelligence indicating that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia had personally ordered complex cyberattacks to sway the 2016 American election.
The evidence included texts and emails from Russian military officers and information gleaned from a top-secret source close to Mr. Putin, who had described to the C.I.A. how the Kremlin decided to execute its campaign of hacking and disinformation.
Mr. Trump sounded grudgingly convinced, according to several people who attended the intelligence briefing. But ever since, Mr. Trump has tried to cloud the very clear findings that he received on Jan. 6, 2017, which his own intelligence leaders have unanimously endorsed.

(8,680 posts)The angrier they get, the less likely the Republicans in congress will do anything even if Mueller presents them with a pile of irrefutable evidence Trump and members of his crime family broke the law.
They know the hammer is coming down soon and hard and their only hope is keep brainwashing their supporters in the hope that once the indictments come down they will rise up and defend Trump to such an extent that the GOP will be afraid to do anything about it.
Not sure that is going to work but I think they think that is their only/best option now.

(24,259 posts)Trump knows he could end it but he CHOOSES not to. So the question is, why doesn't he?
I suppose that it could be because it might make him look more guilty than he already does but I honestly don't think he cares about looking good or innocent or he'd have shut up long ago. I tend to think he doesn't stop it because it keeps his Cult45 suckers riled up, going to his ego stroking rallies and donating.
Narcissists as severe as Trump will do darn near anything to get their ego stroked. They're totally convinced that they're infallible and perfect and Trump, white his rich white privilege, has never had to truly face any real repercussions for his bad behaviour/criminal actions so he thinks he immune.

(70,267 posts)............Democrats slammed Trump's tweet.
"This is an attempt to obstruct justice hiding in plain sight," tweeted Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.
Ben Rhodes, former foreign policy adviser to President Barack Obama, tweeted: "This is what the Republican Party supports - a relentless attack on the rule of law by the President of the United States to enable the continued Russian invasion of our democracy."
Even if Sessions was willing to act on Trump's demands, it's unclear what steps he could take. The attorney general has recused himself from the Russia investigation because he played a role in Trump's presidential campaign. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who has also been attacked by Trump, is Mueller's supervisor, and has consistently defended the special counsel's work.
