From cutting rooms to college campuses, one of the sharpest arrows in the quiver of right-wing provocateurs has been the charge that they are trivialized and victimized. But this weapon has lost its edge in the Trump era, as the president, his family members and his allies roll out the red carpet for figures whose propagation of hateful myths once placed them beyond the pale of mainstream American discourse.
On Wednesday, there was a literal red carpet, down which DSouza walked with Donald Trump, Jr., at the Washington premiere of his new documentary. The event was the latest illustration of how the president or his associates have breathed life into far-right theories with little or no basis in reality theories that now enjoy a following among some members of the Republican Party who see themselves as most closely aligned with the White House.
The presidents elder son told his 2.93 million Twitter followers that the film the main argument of which is that President Trump is a modern-day Lincoln, while Democrats are the intellectual heirs of the agents of slavery and genocide is going to fire up Republicans for the midterms exploring how fascism so closely links to the platform of the progressive left today.

Among the attendees, according to images posted on social media, were Ben Carson, the secretary of Housing and Urban Development who once tried to link Hillary Clinton to Lucifer, and David A. Clarke, Jr., the former sheriff of Milwaukee County who faced allegations that inmates were mistreated in his jails. Lee Stranahan, a reporter for the Kremlin-controlled Sputnik news agency, and Jack Posobiec, an alt-right troll who has been retweeted by the president, were also there.

They have all the same values as hitler. Their side is full of people who openly claim to love hitler. They love hitler, until it's time to say to us 'you guys are worse than hitler (implied that hitler is a huge bad guy that they hate ) . Then their next statement will be that they love hitler, again.
Space cases, basket cases.

Little is known about Hitler before 1920 as many who knew him in his early years were murdered in the 1934 Nazi purge known as the night of a thousand knives. Additionally, files about Hitlers life in Vienna were likely expunged when the Nazis entered the city in 1938.
One persistent rumor about Hitler, not proven, was that he was a male prostitute in Vienna where he lived in the years leading up to his move to Munich and the outbreak of the world war in 1914. It is known that he lived in Vienna as a bohemian artist and that he associated with the artist community. Hitler had inherited money from his late father and as a result he never had to work.
This left him with enough time to study politics and, according to his own autobiography, Mein Kampf, he immersed himself in Marxist studies. In spite of his brave actions during the war, actions which earned him the Iron Cross, he was never promoted higher than the rank of corporal. There has been some speculation that this lack of promotion might have been due to his communist associations or politics. The truth will never be known as his war records disappeared.

(6,943 posts)Those films are never seen by anyone other that an already-rabid base. No teenager or adult takes a date to see a D'Snoozy film. A waste of time, except for the already convinced.
And it's those people who are too dumb to live in a society with a 1st Amendment. Dumb enough to believe a film like this.

Yeah focus hard on the socialist and worker parts of the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) and ignore the nationalist part. Even Steve Bannon himself has admitted to being nationalist. The Fox News crowd and the ones who think of themselves as super patriotic are actually white nationalist racist idiots who don't know the difference.
The Democratic party's history of slavery and segregation is irrelevant since most of the racists switched parties during the civil rights era and have been Republicans for decades now. The South used to be very Dem but is now very Repub since Nixon and Reagan.

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of radical authoritarian ultranationalism,[1][2] characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition and control of industry and commerce,[3] which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe.[4] The first fascist movements emerged in Italy during World War I before it spread to other European countries.[4] Opposed to liberalism, Marxism and anarchism, fascism is usually placed on the far-right within the traditional leftright spectrum.[
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialism
Socialism is a range of economic and social systems characterised by social ownership and workers' self-management of the means of production[10] as well as the political theories and movements associated with them.[11] Social ownership may refer to forms of public, collective or cooperative ownership, or to citizen ownership of equity.[12] There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them,[13] though social ownership is the common element shared by its various forms.

(23,163 posts)When pressed on awkward topicssuch as whether or not he regularly read Adolf Hitlers speecheshe turns skittish and, perhaps, inventive.
Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitlers collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed. Kennedy now guards a copy of My New Order in a closet at his office, as if it were a grenade. Hitlers speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist.
Did your cousin John give you the Hitler speeches? I asked Trump.
Trump hesitated. Who told you that?
I dont remember, I said.
Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of Mein Kampf, and hes a Jew. (I did give him a book about Hitler, Marty Davis said. But it was My New Order, Hitlers speeches, not Mein Kampf. I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but Im not Jewish.)
Later, Trump returned to this subject. If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them.
