Over 550 Migrant Children Still Separated From Their Parents

The Trump administration has told the court that 559 children are still separated through President Trump’s family separation policy out of the 2,551 originally separated. According to court documents obtained by an NBC News reporter, 386 of those children have not been reunited with their parents because the parents are outside the country. The government claims that it has made contact with 299 parents within the last week but does not have any information for 26 children. While the government did appoint agency leaders to spearhead the reunification efforts—in compliance with U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw’s demands—they have yet to share with the court a comprehensive plan to reunite the remaining children.
