Trump: Michael Cohen Flipping Against Me Should Almost Be Made Illegal
Source: The Daily Beast
Donald Trump has complained that Michael Cohen flipping on him to get a better plea deal isnt fair and should be made illegal. In an interview with Fox & Friends broadcast Wednesday morning, the president went on a rant about flippers two days after his longtime attorney implicated him in a federal crime in his guilty plea. Ive known all about flippingfor 30 or 40 years Ive been watching flippers, said Trump. Ive seen it many times, Ive had many friends involved in this stuff, its called flipping and it almost ought to be illegal. You get 10 years in jail but if you say bad things about somebody, in other words make up stories if you dont know, they just make up lies... and now they go from 10 years to theyre a national hero. They have a statue erected in their honor. Its not a fair thing but thats why he did it. He made a very good deal. Cohen has not yet made a deal to co-operate with prosecutors; he took a plea deal for the crimes he has committed while working for Trump. The president also said that the violations of campaign-finance laws, which Cohen said he carried out under the instruction of Trump, are considered not a big deal, frankly.

(23,738 posts)Apparently, he's been involved with the mob for 30-40 years, according to what he's saying, and has had many friends both cooperate with the police and get taken down by the police due to someone else's cooperation.
Like John Gotti, Trump thinks cooperating with the police should be illegal.
Did I paraphrase all that correctly?
on edit:
Oh, and he also basically confessed to the crimes, but says that they aren't a big deal.

He pleaded guilty straight up and the plea was accepted by the judge. As far as I know there was no promise of cooperation and it was not Mueller's prosecution (though his team did some kind of hand off and may have helped). It seems to me that Cohen pleaded guilty to get a reduced sentence (contrition).

(14,536 posts)is as simple as: plea guilty for XYZ and we won't charge you for ABC.
It would be up to his lawyer to explain to hm what the min/max punishment is for what if hetakes the deal. In Cohen's case, he would also explain that if he cooperates and tells what he knows in other cases the judge might be more lenient during his sentencing.

(36,835 posts)Show some leadership, Donald. You have repubs controlling both Houses of Congress.
Get that 'law' passed.

(22,825 posts)Predictions that he will disintegrate under the pressure are coming true right before our eyes. I wonder if the GOP will have him committed to save face.

(9,114 posts)Now, about those laws that already exist, on the other hand -- breaking them is no big deal.
Also, he loves manafort, though he hardly knows the guy. Cohen, the guy he hung about with for years -- that guy is a very bad crooked arch criminal with no character.
And isn't it about time east Brooklyn tears down that Henry Hill monument? Statues like that promote oppression and are very divisive.

1) what kind of people do you hang out with that you "know" many, many people who have turned state's witness?
2) where will this statue be? I want to pay my respects.
