LINCOLN Gov. Pete Ricketts rejected calls for the resignation of the state auditor on Monday, saying if he had a direct employee who was taking three-hour lunches at a sports bar during work hours, like State Auditor Charlie Janssen, he would "counsel them" rather than fire them.
"That's what progressive discipline is all about," said Ricketts, in his first extensive comments on The World-Herald's investigation of the auditor's work habits.

His comment doesn't make anyone respect Charlie Johnson more, it makes people respect himself, the Gov., far less than any time in the past. It makes some of us think they both should go as soon as possible.
