GOP lawmaker on Kavanaugh: What man wouldn't face such an allegation?
Source: MSN/The Hill
Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) on Saturday said the sexual assault allegations brought against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by Christine Blasey Ford amounted to "character assassination."
"We have Judge Kavanaugh sitting there - an individual with a stellar, stellar reputation - and they are doing character assassination," King said before a crowd of Christian conservatives at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition on Saturday.
"They are surely attempting to thwart Justice Kavanaugh. Look at the allegations made by a sole individual, who doesn't remember the residence, the house, the names of the owners of this house, who else was at the place, except for one person who says it didn't happened," he continued. "How can you disprove something like that?"
"You add all of that together and I'm thinking, is there any man in this room that wouldn't be subjected to such an allegation? A false allegation?" King said. "How can you disprove something like that? Which means, if that's the new standard, no man will ever qualify for the Supreme Court again."

Is it possible that a large segment of the American population really does not see any problem with getting a woman drunk, then forcibly taking advantage of her? Think of the outrage of Brock Turner's father complaining about how his son who had raped a woman who had passed out behind a dumpster was going to jail for just "20 minutes of action." The truth is that America has a rape culture and the vote on Kavanaugh exposes this.
Now, if Kavanaugh were a minority, even Republicans would be losing their mind, but since his story is like that of the Stanford polo player, a lot of folks don't think that the sexual assault is a big deal.

Serena was humiliated, and demanded that the doctor induce Offred immediately. When the doctor declined, explaining its already a high-risk birth due to Offreds earlier bleeding, Serena became furious especially because she could tell that Offred was glad the baby didnt arrive. So she brought up a suggestion to her husband: They should probably induce Offred the most natural way.
Yes, it was exactly what you might have thought it meant: The common advice that sex can help induce labor. Serena summoned Offred to her bedroom. As Offred saw the commander taking off his jacket, she realized what was about to happen and started to panic. No, please, she said. You could hurt the baby. . . . Serena, listen to me. You dont have to do this.
No, its whats best for the baby, Serena said, as she pinned down Offreds wrists. Offred repeatedly screamed and tried to escape during the agonizingly long attack. It was an even more disturbing version of the already horrific monthly ceremonies also known as ritualized rape in which the handmaids lay in the laps of the wives and are forced to have sex with the husbands.
That was the point that the episodes writer, Yahlin Chang, said she was trying to make with the horrible scene. The ceremonies have always been rape. But the people in charge of Gilead seem to have convinced themselves that its a completely normal way to conceive children. Usually, the handmaids are silent as Emily/Ofglen (Alexis Bledel) thinks at the beginning of the episode, during a ceremony, You treat it like a job. An unpleasant job to be gotten through as fast as possible. You steel yourself. You pretend not to be present, not in the flesh. You leave your body.

(43 posts)Pin her on a bed, turn up the music as he puts his hand over her mouth to stop the scream. and start pulling her clothes off. Really, just what teenage boy wouldn't do this?
As the music is turned up and she is pinned, helpless, she understands what is happening. Then the hand over the mouth, stopping breathe coming in. Now, fear of death has replaced rape.
What teenage boy doesn't do this with a look out encouraging him as he fumbles to pull off the clothes.

Please continue to talk and perhaps you can be a registered sex offender ... for life ... reporting to your local sheriffs office monthly, or be arrested for failure to report ..

(8,758 posts)I've never drunk raped a woman, or tried to. Despite being, on many occasions, stupid drunk and high.
I have never shoved my penis in anybody's face w/out prior consent. In fact, even when having sex I don't do that. If my partner wants to go there, they can, if they don't that's fine too.
This isn't hard Republicans. Just don't be a rapey creep, and brush up on your dating/relationship/sex game. Millions of men manage this, you shitheads can too if you'd put a modicum of effort into it.
