No Rosenstein Meeting On Trump's Thursday Schedule

Source: Talking Points Memo

President Trump’s Thursday schedule made no mention of a highly anticipated meeting expected to determine the fate of deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein.

Trump had hinted at a Wednesday evening press conference that he might postpone the sit-down to avoid “competing” with the hearing for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who is accused of sexual assault.

Trump also told reporters that he may allow Rosenstein to stay put, telling reporters that his “preference would be to keep him.”

This about-face comes after a frenetic Monday in which rumors flew that Rosenstein was either resigning or being fired following reports that he’d discussed trying to oust Trump from office in 2017.

2. (1) He wants Rosenstein to sweat. (2) He doesn't know yet what to do about it.

(3) He's planning on having a Saturday Night Massacre after the mid-terms, if the Dems don't take both houses. Rosenstein, Sessions, and others will be gone, replaced by Trump loyalists. Mueller investigation cut off at the knees.

I hope Mueller is close to the end.

Of course, if the Dems are in control of the House, that does give the country an avenue to prevent obstruction. If the Democratic leaders will pursue that.

7. We'll see. Even Republicans are against a Saturday Night Massacre

Sean Hannity tells Trump not to do this all the time on Fox News when he knows Trump is watching. If Sean Hannity is against firing Sessions, Rosenstein and others to get to Mueller's investigation, Trump will probably be totally alone. Lame duck or no lame duck.

Trump will be free to do what he wants. They will still have an agenda to pursue. More tax cuts, health care, Medicare deconstruction, privatizing Social Security. That's what they care about. (Also, a few are getting money from Russia.)

Don't discount the Russian meddling in the mid-terms, so we'll see if the Blue Wave that we know is coming, actually occurs. Russians have infiltrated our govt.

We wake up wondering what trump has tweeted or said that could cause chaos. I hold my breath that Mueller & Rosenstein won't be fired.
