Brett Kavanaugh committee vote to go on as scheduled Friday, Republican senators say

Source: CNN

(CNN)The Senate Judiciary Committee vote on whether to favorably recommend Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court will happen as scheduled Friday morning, though top GOP senators did not appear to know as of Thursday night whether enough key Republican votes had been convinced to confirm Kavanaugh.

Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley repeatedly declined to answer questions Thursday night from reporters as he repeatedly said, "we're meeting at 9:30" -- a reference to the committee meeting where the panel is scheduled to vote on whether to give Kavanaugh a favorable recommendation.
When asked by the media if the nomination come to the full Senate floor for a vote, Grassley responded "Depends on what happens tomorrow."
The announcement to keep the current schedule comes fewer than two hours after the Senate Judiciary Committee wrapped its day-long, blockbuster hearing of Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, a woman who accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

The PredictIt odds for 52/53/54 yea votes just jumped from 9%/5%/6% to 29%/32%/15%

Someone has some reason to believe that he's gained a couple Democrats

They can get 50 Senators + Pence, so can afford to lose one vote.

It's possible they'll get Manchin.

I don't know about the 2 independents.

Maybe a couple of Dems voting for him too.

We will have a monster on the SC, unless we see a couple of profiles in courage.

Vote the bastards out. We need to win big, the House and Senate. Then let the investigations begin. Let's find out how many Repugs took Russian campaign money.

This gets me so angry. He does not belong in the S.Ct. As for party line, it's possible that Manchin is a yes.

if this goes to the Senate floor it would put alot of the Repugnants on the record of supporting a potential rapist to become a SCOTUS judge.
Instead they are going to try to weaponize the issue against our guys to save themselves both during the upcoming election and the 2020 one.

Just boys being boys, in their youth. They don't see a confirmation vote as a vote for a rapist. Plus, they don't think he raped anyone. They believe Ford, I'm sure. And that wasn't rape. Which gives them an out.

They learned from the Clarence Thomas vote that voting in a sexual predator does not harm them. Heck, even 11 Democrats voted for him. He wouldn't have been confirmed otherwise.

he does then Ford might want to consider pressing charges as a conviction for sexual assault for a sitting SCOTUS judge should be enough to remove him from office.

It would cost a fortune, disrupt her life, and likely not end well.

If he's seated, he will remain there. Like Clarence Thomas.

the best shot might be to get a Bill Cosby like conviction on Montgomery County, MD

And the odds of that after 36 years would be tough ...

It looks like the timeline will be:

Saturday — Cloture motion filed

Monday — Cloture vote

{Up to 30 hours of debate}

(Probably) Tuesday — Final Senate vote on Kavanaugh.
