Landmark poll shows tight race for Georgia gov, a divide over Kavanaugh
Source: Atlanta Journal Constitution
New polling released Monday showed Democrat Stacey Abrams and Republican Brian Kemp in a tight contest for the states top job, mirroring other recent surveys that showed a razor-thin race.
The poll by Landmark Communications showed Kemp leading Abrams 48-46 among likely Georgia voters, within the polls 3 percent margin of error. Libertarian Ted Metz had about 2 percent of support while 3 percent of voters were undecided.
The poll also found a plurality of Georgia voters 49 percent believed the U.S. Senate should vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, while 43 percent opposed. Eight percent were undecided on Kavanaugh, whose nomination could be derailed by sexual assault claims.
In the lieutenant governor race, Republican Geoff Duncan and Democrat Sarah Riggs Amico were also in a close race. Duncan led Amico 48-46 in the bid to succeed Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, with 6 percent of voters undecided.

My sources tell me that Abrams is getting all the cash she needs; I would target funds to Carolyn Bodreaux (GA-7) to help with local voter turnout for the whole ticket.

(62,415 posts)and the guy in charge of the voting system is Secretary of State Brian Kemp who is also Stacey Abrams opponent for governor makes me think that Abrams chances are - well - not good. The vote only has to be close for Kemp to steal it. Just like what happened to Jon Osoff.
If we get a Democratic congress and president in 2020, the very first thing they should mandate is verifiable paper ballots in all elections.

(5,586 posts)They've been predicting Dem victories here since forever. I went out and voted for Jason Carter and Michelle Nunn. Turnout was unbelievably high, and they still got demolished. And that doesn't even come close to the misery I felt at the defeat of John Ossoff.
I halfway think it's just to make the Repubs spend money here, but from my experience, we don't have a whole lot of chance to flip Georgia. At least not yet.
