Paul Ryan worries tribal identity politics is "becoming the new norm" for both sides

Source: CBS News

House Speaker Paul Ryan expressed concern about the direction of politics on both sides of the aisle in an interview with "CBS This Morning" co-host John Dickerson. When asked to address President Trump's rallies, which have become a signature of his presidency, and whether they "sow division" in the country, Ryan said "sometimes."

"Well not always, but sometimes....I worry about tribal identity politics becoming the new norm of how politics is waged. As conservatives, we always thought this was sort of a left-wing...thing. Unfortunately, the right practices identity politics now as well," Ryan said.

Ryan did not offer a broader criticism of Mr. Trump's style of politics but when asked by Dickerson whether the president practices "inclusive politics," Ryan said, "sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't."

<snip>

Ryan cited last year's tax cuts as among his party's key accomplishments. "We cut taxes and we have higher revenue coming in," he said. "The economy grew 4.2 percent this quarter." However, a Gallup poll says 46 percent of the country does not approve of the tax cuts and 51 percent say the cut has not helped them financially.

Fuck you Lyin Ryan...... President Obama went out of his way to try to work with repukes and he got screwed over. Your party refused to even consider a Supreme Court nomination. You refused to work with him on ANYTHING. It's not BOTH parties that have been sowing division, it's your repuke party.

AND.... if your goper tax cuts for the ultra wealthy have increased revenue as you falsely claim, why is McTurtle saying we need to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid in order to save the country?

He doesn't really give 2 shits about what becomes of America after that.

THAT is complete BULLSHIT. If we had "higher revenue coming in" then the fucking debt wouldn't have increased by that same $1.5 trillion that you gave away to the rich and large corporations while the deficit is expected to top $1 trillion next year.

The report highlights the challenge the Trump administration faces in reducing deficits. Administration officials have said stronger economic growth would allow recent tax cuts to generate more revenue over the long run, offsetting initial declines in receipts from rate cuts. But the latest projections show the deficit rising even though the administration projected an even stronger uptick in federal revenue.

There is no "revenue". They are HOARDING that tax giveaway cash so they can continue to buy back their stock.... and they are certainly not giving it to their employees or spending it on any expansion of their businesses to hire more people.

The Dems have no such informal rule or convention, and certainly not one instituted by or named after a sexual predator or felon.

our politics. You could have done something about it/this issue before it got out of hand and now, it's too late. You let the genie out of the bottle and stirred up something in the American people who see how you all cleaned up the swamp...sarcasm here. You failed miserably in protecting this country against the excesses of the rump administration. And worse of all, you're leaving. Why? Did you get paid off? Will you go and get a lobbying job paying millions of dollars a year? Probably. Wouldn't surprise me a bit, being that you're the ones complaining about the 'swamp' and yet, you're the ones deepening the swamp.

Why don't you think first before you speak? Look truly at your actions and see where the blame lies. You'll go down in history (along w/ your fellow cronies) as being one of the ones who attacked American values in helping others and those others who believe in accomplishing things w/o being so negative towards so many Americans who are simply trying to make a decent living, and could use help. Our allies overseas are wondering what in the heck is going on here? Have you Americans gone crazy?

Your party obviously doesn't believe in lending a helping hand and guidance towards others in need (some Christian attitudes, eh?)

All I see is NO NO NO! Remember?
