Twitter says it won't suspend Louis Farrakhan over tweet comparing Jews to termites
Source: The Hill
Twitter said Wednesday that it will not suspend Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan over a tweet comparing Jews to termites, the company confirmed to The Hill.
Farrakhan, who has been accused of making anti-Semitic remarks for years, posted a clip to Twitter of a speech he gave captioned, "I'm not an anti-Semite. I'm anti-Termite."
The tweet prompted backlash on the platform, with figures such as Chelsea Clinton blasting it as anti-Semitic.
"The responsive laughter makes my skin crawl. For everyone who rightly condemned President Trumps rhetoric when he spoke about immigrants 'infesting our country,' this rhetoric should be equally unacceptable to you," Clinton wrote.

(6,034 posts)I am assuming that if a Republican made a disgusting anti-muslim comment people would be here full of outrage.
But antisemitism is okay to many on the left.

Last week a Hasidic Jewish man was randomly beaten by a Moslem man for the crime of walking to shul while Jewish in NYC. The attacker was screaming anti-Jewish taunts in Arabic. Its on video.
But its not a hate crime, according to Mayor DeBlasiio because he doesnt want to alienate the antisemitic groups on the leftist side.
We Jews are fair game. We get it.

(29,322 posts)According to polling it is proud liberals that are against racism more than moderate or conservative Democrats.
As to the OP I just got here and I have long said social media allows too much hate speech I would have deleted and banned the account as will as much more that I see. The internet is largely a toxic cesspool.
Everyone I hear of Farrakhan he is saying something offensive.

(26,060 posts)But with all due respect, you would have to be blind not to see anti semitism on the far left. That Sarsour twit is due zero respect for her work in the woman's movement when she not only is a fan of farrakhan but had the chutzpah to proclaim Zionists can't be feminists. Her face on woman's movement is a stain. But there she is, being forgiven for her associations. It's disgusting.

Its not even Islam. Its a weird cult.

(29,322 posts)That is what people mean when they say "Islamic terrorism". Wahabbism is a weird cult as well.
A lot of the smarter people like Malcolm X left and converted to Sunni Islam.

(3,051 posts)Linda Sarsour (women's march leader) calls Farakhan her "mentor" . . . . along with the father of one of those those Islamist nuts in New Mexico that killed a "possessed" child and had a make shift military compound.
Antisemitism is mainstream, both left and right.
It's one of the few areas of bipartisan agreement.

(11,927 posts)Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, in Detroit on Sunday, talked about themes of atonement, reconciliation and responsibility, with a nod to more timely events of the past months.
The speech by the controversial minister, which offered familiar Nation of Islam positions on race and reparations, and calling on black men to lead and protect women and families, began with a reference to God as the God of climate and climate change and ended with a warning that if America does not offer black people reparations, climate calamities and extreme weather would continue.
