Fired Democrats: Ohio elections chief missed deadline
Source: AP
DAYTON, OHIO: Two fired elections board members from Ohio are calling for the states elections chief to step down from the state ballot board for missing a critical fall ballot deadline in the battleground state.
Thomas Ritchie Sr. and Dennis Lieberman of Montgomery County allege Secretary of State Jon Husted erred by failing to convene the ballot board he chairs in time to prepare the argument against Novembers Issue 2. They say the panel, which Husted chairs, was to write the argument for voters to read because the Legislature didnt.
Husted spokesman Matt McClellan called the claim outlandish. He said the ballot board approved the arguments and met the deadline.
Husted fired Ritchie and Lieberman from their county election panel for refusing to rescind weekend voting hours as hed ordered.

(18,479 posts)There are a lot of good people in Ohio, but it makes you wonder.
Perhaps it's that the Bush Gang came from there. that might have something to do with it.
the Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Attorneys General, both chambers of the legislature (with the Senate having a super majority) and the Ohio Supreme Court went Republican. Actually all of the leadership positions in state government are held by Republicans. There are some good people in Ohio but they are in the minority. After the 2010 census the districts were gerrymandered to favor the Republicans except for a few districts.
Welcome to the hell called Ohio.
on edit: the ecomomy in Ohio at the time of the 2010 elections was one of the worst in the country. Obama and Governor Ted Strickland (D) got the blame.

(1,309 posts)Actually Ohio has about the same number of democrats as republicans and significant numbers of independent voters. Democrats failed to vote in 2010.
But in 2011, we defeated senate bill 5 and protected our public unions from the republicans by a margin of almost two to one.
Now in 2012 , we are organizing to reelect Obama and will do so in spite of republican roadblocks.
We have collected signatures to end the gerrymandering of our elections and the method we support is very popular and we expect it to help mobilize our democratic voters as well as create more good willt owards democrats as the party who fights for the American way.Go Sherrod Brown, and go Obama- we love both of you!
