Iowa youth basketball coach admits to sexually exploiting at least 400 boys

Source: Omaha World Herald-AP

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A prominent Iowa youth basketball coach faces potentially decades in prison after admitting to a yearslong pattern of sexually exploiting and abusing at least 400 minor boys, including former players, their friends and other young athletes.

Greg Stephen, 42, posed as girls on social media to trick the boys into making live videos masturbating. He secretly recorded them showering during trips to tournaments. And in some cases he recorded himself fondling nude players as they slept.

The massive scope of Stephen's abuse was revealed in a plea agreement filed Thursday after the former Iowa Barnstormers coach pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual exploitation of minors, one count of possessing child pornography and one count of transporting child pornography in federal court in Cedar Rapids.

Stephen's arrest in March shocked the basketball community in Iowa, where he had long helped lead the Adidas-sponsored traveling program for top youth players.

I do not understand these sick dudes, nor do I fathom how they get away with it for so long. Anyone who served alongside him has eyes and ears. Someone saw or suspected something.

regarding his knowledge of sexual abuses by the team doctor at Ohio State. This is one more outrage that has fallen into obscurity with the constant scandals surrounding Republicons.

I hope he gets sentenced to the maximum. 400 kids, I can't even imagine the repercussions that will have not only on those victims, but others in their families and future lives.

Peace

Considering he could get away with this for years and have so many victims, I wonder how many like him are out there that haven't been caught. I shudder to think.

had not really paid that much attention since 1962,same families running the show and same families to poor to get out. Again first time in 15 years, only thing that changed was the Paint on a couple of houses and barns. Maybe the money in the cash registers, but that was about it. Freaking depressing to see,but what the heck, they kept voting for Walker and the real truth is right in their faces slapping the shit out of them.

My nephews scout troop has a rule that two adults must be present when they are with kids at a scouting event. At least Boy Scouts recognizes it as a problem and is addressing it. The rule has been around 10 years or so.

It's more recent, but the "two adults" is added to "three people at all time, at least one adult." The old rule would have allowed one adult and two teens, but they probably figured that wouldn't pose a problem. Either way, they revised the rule.
