Veteran Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank said GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romneys positions should come with expiration dates, and said Romneys current stances are only good until 2013 or 14.
Mitt Romney, he was a businessman, Frank said on CNN. He brings certain business techniques to government. One of them is the notion of an expiration date on the product. When Mitt Romney takes a position, its good only until a certain point, and you should be told: Dont buy this after April of 2013 or 14. I dont know how anyone can say otherwise. He has been on every side of every important issue in American history since hes been around.
The voluble Frank, who is retiring at the end of this Congress, is speaking at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte this week and is expected to sharply criticize Romneys record as governor of the Bay State. During Tuesdays interview, he chastised Romney for backing away from the universal health care law he crafted and signed as governor.
The ironic thing here is that if you look at his record as governor of Massachusetts, the only thing that stands out is the health care bill, Frank said. Hes not just trying to repudiate his accomplishment. Hes trying to repudiate his only accomplishment.
