Kremlin: We'll respond in kind if U.S. develops intermediate missiles

Source: Reuters

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The Kremlin said on Monday that Russia would be forced to respond in kind if the United States began developing new missiles after quitting a landmark Cold War-era treaty.

President Donald Trump said on Saturday that Washington would withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty because Russia was violating the pact, triggering a warning of retaliatory measures from Moscow.

The treaty, signed by then-President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1987, required the elimination of short-range and intermediate-range nuclear and conventional missiles by both countries. Its demise would raise the possibility of a spiralling arms race.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday that the U.S. move would make the world a more dangerous place and said Russia would be forced to act to restore the balance of military power if Washington quit the pact and started developing new missiles.

you get to the one with the red button. That the rightwingers
understand the consequences of a nuclear exchange of any
size..

That they have sane heads, or else....

Russia has already developed multiple new intermediate missiles.

Maybe they were proactively "responding in kind"?

Russia gets to flaunt the weapons they've already developed and the US begins pounding money down a rathole at a furious pace.

Tool gets to extort $$ from MIC for himself, WIN! For the American people, he will steal our Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to make up for all the money the rich and rich corporations aren't paying.

Thats not to say I think developing one of our own is a good idea as I do not but rather it should encourage the US to develop an anti missile system to counter it.
