By Damian Paletta October 22 at 4:25 PM
U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin met with Saudi Arabias Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday, according to the Saudi government, illustrating how the White House is retaining close ties with the embattled Middle Eastern leader despite a growing international outcry.
Saudi Arabias foreign ministry posted a photo of the meeting on Twitter. In a caption, the Saudi government wrote that bin Salman in the meeting stresses the importance of the Saudi-US strategic partnership, where it holds an important role in the future in line with the Kingdoms #Vision2030.

Mnuchin last week announced he was withdrawing from a conference in Saudi Arabia this week, amid the international backlash following the killing of Washington Post contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

(70,516 posts)Didn't MBS talk to Khashoggi on the phone @ the Saudi consulate in Istanbul prior
to his murder and try to talk him into getting on one of HIS planes and flying back
to S.A.? And so after Khashoggi refused that offer he was cut up as he was alive,
then MSB had Khashoggi's body cut into pieces, and after which cleaning and painting
crews come to "straighten up" the room in which Khashoggi was tortured and murdered
in.
Or maybe the crown prince gave the mnuch man an offer he couldnt refuse.
