Heather Nauert is Trump's top choice for UN ambassador

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) - President Donald Trump has told advisers that Heather Nauert, the State Department spokeswoman, is his leading choice to become US ambassador to the United Nations and he could offer the post as soon as this week, two sources familiar with his pick told CNN.

If named Nauert, who met with Trump Monday, would leave her role at the State Department to take over from Nikki Haley, who surprised White House officials last month when she announced her decision to step down at the end of the year.

Nauert, who came to government from Fox News, served as State Department spokesman for both Rex Tillerson and Mike Pompeo but has enjoyed a closer relationship with Trump's second secretary of state than she did Tillerson, who was privately skeptical of her close ties with the West Wing.

Her elevation to a top diplomatic role underscores the importance Trump has placed on having his top aides also serve as television surrogates. Nauert has briefed regularly from the State Department podium and had a long career in television news before that.

Still, as a diplomat she lacks experience. Previous holders of the UN ambassador position — including current national security adviser John Bolton — came to the role with years of foreign policy experience. Nauert served briefly as Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy from March until October.

5. I'm shocked that she has 7 months of ANY applicable experience.

That seems way overqualified for any Trump appointee, where the ONLY criteria are:

1) Will you kiss my ass constantly, in public and private?
2) Will you do sleazy things for me, without question?
3) Do you have shady stuff in your past that I can use against you if you step out of line? Because that is a much better motivator than money.

That's it. Those are the only job requirements for anyone currently employed in this administration. If you actually know--or, God forbid, CARE--about anything you are supposed to be in charge of, then you need not even apply. Knowing and caring about your job means that you may not be on board with some ridiculous thing that Donald wants to do. And Donald can't have any of that.

10. Does she have to be approved by the senate for this job?

It's Cabinet level, right, so shouldn't aporoval be required? Hopefully the senate can toss her. She's too ignorant.

Is this a recess appointment? Cause it requires Senate approval. Even if the republicans keep the Senate they must dread the confirmation process. Mel Brooks could come up with great questions to ask her.
